 | Glenda León b. 1976, Cuban Habitat, 2004 bed, digital print sheets, digital print pillows, artificial lawn, digital print wallpaper Noche de fantasia, 2004 earrings, black paint 1414 Monterey Street, third floor |
| | | | | León has furnished what was once a third-floor bedroom at the Mattress Factory’s satellite facility with natural elements. In Habitat, the pillowcases on the bed are printed with images of rocks, and sheets display pictures of earth. A bedspread is made with artificial grass, and clouds dot the blue sky wallpaper behind the bed. Across the room from the bed, one can view the night sky in Noche de fantasia (night of fantasy) where twinkling stars are simulated by cubic zirconium earrings stuck into the black wall. | |
