Mini-Factory: COLOR

Mini-Factory is a FREE interactive learning program designed specifically for children ages 3-6 years old and their parents and/or caregivers that uses contemporary installation art as the basis for enabling parents and educators to explore education ideas.

Young children will explore a variety of themes and installations at the Mattress Factory, participate in story time with our partners form Reading is FUNdamental and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - Allegheny and work on a collaborative project in our Mini-Factory. The Mini-Factory is a mobile, adaptable pop-up space that children can help to build and use to explore new ideas and concepts. Young artists will participate in projects that promote making and sharing.

MINI-FACTORY is FREE but you must RSVP to felice[at]mattress.org or at 412.231.3169 because space is limited.

You can sign up for workshops individually. Please let us know if you are unable to attend so we can contact those people on our waiting list. Parents must accompany children and participate in the activities with their child.

ARTLab: Searching for the Sun

Free with museum admission. 

 

Don't miss your last chance to participate in the truly electrifying Photovoltaic Solar Energy and Art Series! In part four of the session we will focus on solar energy as an employment opportunity. Fred Underwood of Pittsburgh-based solar panel company Underwood Solar Future LLC will be stopping by to do solar siting and show off his Solar Pathfinder. Conservational Consultants Inc. education Indigo Raffel will also be at ARTLab facilitating solar printing and educational games.

ARTLab: Garden Parade

This growing season join us for a plant-tastic ARTLab! Jessica Frelinghuysen, whose work, "My City is Your City", is currently displayed in the museum as part of the Detroit: Artists in Residence will be on site to help you learn more about caring for plants and the ways that plants affect our environment. You will be able to make your very own mobile plant backpack, and help create and march in our very own plant parade down Sampsonia Way.
