Alexis Esquivel (b. 1968 Cuba) is a prominent Cuban artist who uses painting, installation, performance or video art as a means of examining and taking part in the increasingly urgent debate on the relationships of power and race in society. He curated Queloides 1 and holds a masters in art education from the Instituto Superior Pedagógico, Havana. He has been a visiting artist at Tufts University, Boston, and the University of Georgia, Athens.
