MARTA MARÍA PÉREZ BRAVO They Are Not Mine Series (2010)
| Marta María Pérez Bravo (b. 1959 Cuba) studied at the ISA and later at the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, both in Havana. Her photographs are deeply immersed in the Afro-Cuban religions of Santeria and Palo Monte, and the Yoruba traditions brought to Cuba by African slaves. She is considered to be the foremost Cuban female photographer. She has had more than 50 solo shows in Cuba, Finland, Germany, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Italy, and Venezuela. In the U.S., she has had solo exhibitions in New York, Dallas and Los Angeles.
