Celebrate a hot summer night in "Little Havana" at the Mattress Factory's Urban Garden Party. Enjoy a festive evening with Caribbean music, exotic food, tropical rum drinks, a cigar bar and cutting-edge art at Friday night's benefit. Featured will be musicians Orquesta Tropical and Steelpan Combination Band, as well as performances by SARROGIT and film projections by Mule Kicked Visions. Savor famous drinks by the infamous LUPEC (Ladies Untied for the Preseravtion of Endangered Cocktails) in our Cuban lounge. The highest bidders in a silent auction will take home one-of-a-kind cigar boxes decorated by local celebrities and artists.

Experience installation art, explore an urban garden and participate in creative family activities. The Community and Family Garden Party features engagning programs and entertainment for children, youth and adults. Construct colorful kaleidoscopes and geodesic spheres, design fanciful garden labyrinths and bamboo staffs, sample edible flowers, silkscreen insect and flower-themed prints, create painted tiles for a permanent garden installation, enjoy interactive storytelling, music and puppet performances and discover the creative practice of MF artists! Featured participants include Steelpan Combination Band, SARROGIT, Alison K. Babusci, Subliminal, Jeremy Boyle, Sharon "Mama" Spell, Hotep African Dancers and Drummers, We're Holden Puppets, Dror Yaron, the National Aviary, Pittsburgh Filmmakers, Ben Soto, Pittsburgh Children's Museum and more.
