The Andy Warhold Museum Program
Mattress Factory Program
Co-sponsored by the Mattress Factory and The Andy Warhol Museum. Enjoy an evening of dialogue and discovery highlighting new contemporary art exhibitions and educator resources as two innovative North Side museums.
Join colleagues and museum staff at the Warhol and the Mattress Factory for an exlporation of contemporary art and practice centered around the new exhibitions, Andy Warhol's Time Capsules (October 2, 2004-January 2, 2005) and New Installations, Artists in Residence: Cuba (October 3, 2004-April 24, 2005).
At the Warhol, educators will enjoy a reception and participate in tours and activities centered on the exhibition of Warhol's famed Time Capsules. Over 3,000 objects will be on view from this unique personal archive, providing insight into Warhol's everyday life and the social and artistic scene during his lifetime. Interdisciplinary connections will be explored between Warhol's artistic practice of collecting and the practice of collecting in the social and natural sciences. Participants are eligible to apply for mini-grants available through the museum.
At the Mattress Factory, educators will explore Installation Art and learn about the social, historical and cultural forces that shape the production of art in Cuba today. The program will introduce new ways to present Installation Art in traditional art and classroom environments, as well as how art can be used in Spanish language and social studies classrooms to address the rich history and culture of Cuba. Educators will enjoy behind-the-scenes tours of multi-media installations created by 11 Cuban artists, explore museum-based projects in the new MF Education Studio, and receive Installation Art resources.
