Overview
ARTLab is a drop-in program that is free with Museum admission. It occurs every Saturday from 1-4 PM. The program engages visitors of all ages and experience levels in hands-on art activities co-created with exhibiting artists.
ARTLab: Assume the Risk
On Saturdays this spring, we will be facilitating visitor engagement with Asim Waqif's exhibition, Assume the Risk, as part of our ongoing ARTLab series! Visitors are invited to alter the installation by adding, removing, and shifting materials in the space. Hard hats and protective eyewear are required to participate in the project and are provided by the Mattress Factory.
ARTLab: Darkroom Workshop – Sunlight Prints
Intermittently, Mattress Factory offers ARTLab: Darkroom Workshop – Sunlight Prints in Luke Stettner's exhibition, State of the Sky.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, this workshop is designed to inspire creativity and foster a deeper understanding of the art and science behind photograms – a technique sometimes called cameraless photography.
Engage in the magical process of using the power of sunlight to create one-of-a-kind prints at Mattress Factory’s ARTLab: Darkroom Workshop. Experiment like an artist and learn about the darkroom process hands-on with an art educator in a small group.
During the workshop, you will learn how to manipulate light and shadow to capture fascinating images. The darkroom is a feature of Luke Stettner’s exhibition, “State of the Sky”, which uniquely uses sunlight through a roof opening – instead of artificial light – to develop images.
